When is the two-week program?
The Scholars Academy at Monmouth College will takes place in June of 2020.
What is the cost of the two-week program?
The two-week program is $1,200, which includes all program fees, housing and meals.
What are the application requirements?
Applicants must complete their freshman, sophomore or junior year of high school by June 30 of the year in which they wish to participate, and not graduate before January of the following year.
Intellectually curious, college-bound high school student that shows leadership potential through participation in clubs or community activities.
When can I apply to the Scholars Academy at Monmouth College and when is the deadline?
Online applications will become available October 1, 2019, and we will accept applications until May 1, 2020.

What is needed in order to complete my application?
Who should provide my recommendation?
A teacher, principal, coach, guidance counselor all would make great candidates to provide a recommendation. We ask that you inform this person that they are selected to provide a recommendation for you and inform them about the Scholars Academy program.
When and how will I be notified if I have been accepted?
Applicants will be notified within two weeks of submitting their application and receiving the letter of recommendation. We will notify applicants via the email address they provide.
What is the refund and cancellation policy?
For cancellations prior to May 2, 2020, the total tuition, less a $150 processing fee is refundable. For cancellations after May 2, 2020, the total tuition fee, less a $300 processing fee is refundable. If cancellations occur within 3 weeks prior to session start date, the entire tuition will be forfeited except for cancellations due to medical reasons verified by the attending physician.
Medical cancellations must be verified within 30 days of cancellation to receive refunded tuition, less a $150 processing fee. After 30 days, only half tuition will be refunded.
The Program Director reserves the right to dismiss any scholars whose behavior affects his/her ability to participate or is detrimental to the members of the program. No refund will be made for absences, dismissals or withdrawals before the end of the session.
In cases of withdrawal during the program based on medical reasons verified by the attending physician within 30 days of withdrawal, a portion of the tuition will be refunded.
There will be a $25 fee for all returned checks.
Where will I be staying while on the Monmouth College campus?
Scholars will get a feel for a real college experience enjoying our air-conditioned residence hall accommodations. These residence halls are in a suite layout where two to three students share a room and two rooms are joined by a bathroom.
Can I request a roommate?
Scholars are encouraged to step outside their comfort zone and room with someone they may not know.
What should I pack?
Jacket, sweater or sweatshirt
Swimming suit and towel
Jeans or long pants
Pillow & pillowcase
1 set twin size extra-long sheets (2 full size flat sheets will also work)
Bath towels & washcloths
Should I bring a computer?
Scholars will have access to the library resources which include using the campus computers. We recommend you leave personal computers at home as we are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.
Can I bring my car?
You may drive your car to campus and park in the campus parking lot. However, once parked, the car will be registered and the keys will be forfeited until the completion of the program. All transportation while in the program will be provided.
Should I have any concerns about safety?
No, the Monmouth College Campus Safety Officers are professionally trained officers, on campus 24 hours a day, and work hard to make the Monmouth College environment safe to live, learn and work.
